Hi all,
I was wondering if theres any chance of organising production of a bunch of soft-releases with "RFF" or "Rangefinderforum.com" printed on top?
I use softies now and again, and I know lots of other RFF'ers do too so I figure there has got to be some interest in a group buy.
Sporting a RFF softie could become something of a 'secret-handshake' between members to show you're one of the gang.
Just an idea I had, anyone else interested in this?

Sounds great!
I'd love it if Tom could chip in with some further details and perhaps a timeframe if at all possilbe?
In any event I'll definately buy one.

If by chrome engraving on red you mean a sort of imitation of the Leica logo but substituted with the RFF logo, I think that'd look excellent.ErikFive said:A chrome engraving on red Softie will look the best. The final price to be decided based on design etc.
Those of us who are shooters, not collecters can definately related to that!ErikFive said:Trying to make the price as "shooter-friendly" as possible".

Just thought I'd give this thread a bump, so the idea doesn't get lost.

There are quite a few of us who use a softie, at least on occasion. I'd buy at least one of these, just to support the forum, and add an interesting conversation piece to a camera. Now we can add a portable red dot to our M3's
Seriously, it's a good idea that shouldn't get lost in the shuffle. With as many members as the forum has, a reasonable number of these should not be very difficult for us to absorb, in a short time frame.

Whew! For a second there I thought you were being a smarta** and suggesting a Rangefinderforum soft release, sold at a reduced price, that would undercut a longtime advertiser, spawn several highly opinionated battleground threads, and expose the brutal underbelly that is the business side of our gentle hobby. Couldn't happen here.
Oh and count me out on a soft release group buy. I don't care for them.

If it's red, I'll have to tape over it.

I'd buy one - although I already have one on my r-D1s - but would prefer black

Ooh, I'd be game for a few - I've already got a few of Tom A's softies, but I have a good few more cameras without them.

Definitely! Been eyeing a Leica for a really long time (finally time to lay aside the DSLRs), and one is indeed on the way. TA's soft release is definitely on my shopping list -- even better with the RFF logo on it.

I think a black or silver softie with a red "RFF" in the style of the Leitz engraving that appears on each M2/M3 top plate would look awesome.
Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if Stephen Gandy comes up with some kind of RFF related softie eventually, even without involvement from the forum members.
It's a nice little way to promote the site, a great way for us to show we are part of the community here and I'm sure there would be enough demand for softies in general.
I bought mine from Luigi awhile back, it'd be interesting to hear how many he sells a month. He definately seems very keen on promoting them!

Ok, so what is the general consensus on Soft Releases?
Convex (indented), or Concave (a little dome)?
