Any Coin Collectors Here?

I've got a bunch of silver coins in my hands that I need to figure out how to get valued.
We're talking Morgan dollars from the 1880s to the 1920s and Peace silver dollars from 1923 and 1925.
I also have about 40 Mercury dimes and several pounds of franklin dimes.

I'm a bit afraid of just taking them to a coin shop since I don't know enough to be sure the values are even close to accurate.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I have a collector's manual, and i may help you with values: but you shall give me some additional details (you can send a PM, if you like). I collect the coins and stamps I get from my trips.

I bring home with me coins from every place I travel to. I find them fascinating. People use them every day and most don't give a second thought about why they are shaped the way they are, or what images lay on either side.

Having said that, I don't think that I own any particularly rare coins. But I do have a growing collection.

Some Morgans, like those from the Carson City Mint can get quite pricey. I'd go to the local library and get a book on coin values, or read one of the coin collecting magazines.
