Any collapsable 50m Summicron fans who own an M8/M9?

I have a few 50m lenses (50mm Summicron late generation, Noctilux f1.0, industar 61LD, Jupiter 8) and am interested in what some of you think of the old 50mm Collapsable 50mm Summicron used on the M8 and M9. Wide open, I am sure sharpness is not like modern lenses, but having a lower contrast design has its advantages, and the older lenses are not as harsh, and offer unique rendering characteristics (this is why I have more than one 50mm lens, I appreciate what each can and cannot do).

So post some pics, and comment as to why you like this lens (what shooting situations you like it for and what situations you do not like it for).

Great combo, but you need to make sure the lens this old has been properly cleaned and rebuilt. Some examples of my '54 here

For color it's great, but for even lower contrast for dynamic b/w and sharper center to edges, I prefer the 50/2.4 ltm Hexanon collapsible.

The one I may consider is on Sherry Krauter's web site. I know her well, and I am sure ANYTHING she will sell me will be fine!!!

I just like the design of the lens (fascinated by its mechanical beauty) and some of its unique rendering characteristics.

Collapsible Summicron, wide-open on the M8. IR cut filter used.

Lower contrast means shadow details are better preserved. Great color correction means colors do not bleed across the pixels. Very little flare, used with a Heavystar vented hood.

This lens is near mint. I cleaned some slight haze from the surfaces on each side of the aperture blades myself.

Also: this is a 13xxxxxx lens. The coatings underwent changes from the earlier lenses, I have several. The color from this lens seems better than the earlier lenses. Stay away from the early Summicrons with SN under 105xxxx. They used Thorium Glass, and yellow. Great for collectors, not good for color.
