Any Costco still develop film?

Anyone still getting film developed at Costco? None I have seen in the Seattle area.

Word here in Sacramento is when it breaks its gone if the repair is more than 500 $
Costco will still print from pre processed film

Before handing your film to Costco, ask them if they will return the negatives or destroy them. Most large chains, such as Walgreens, Walmart's etc., will destroy your film and not give you a chance to get your negatives back. They will claim that the microscopic print in the paper strip they give you AFTER they take possession of your film gives them the right to do so.

That's what my local Costco told me a few months ago as well. Then, nearly a week later, the machine was gone and no more film processing. A terrible day it was when I could no longer get negatives processed for $1.59.

I used to have all my C41 developed and printed at Costco, cheaper than most local stores with very good results. Too bad they stopped doing that.:(

To my surprise my Costco in Danville, CA just told me they fixed their developing machine and will take film (for how long I don't know). But I immediately went home and loaded a roll and will take it in tomorrow.

Lucky you! Seems like most of Costco's machines are "breaking" at around the same time and none of them want to fix it.

they (local store managers) have been told by corporate that when the machines are broken or need repairs to get rid of the machine. but one manager told me that one store in a region will keep the machines and it will based upon which store does the largest amount of developing. Not sure the radius of the territory though.

"My" Costco machine in Marina Del Rey, CA, has broken numerous times over the past year and they so far have fixed them every time. There is a demand for it here.

I also have written to Costco corporate praising their film dev crew etc and how they are really appreciated as the few that meet the demand for film processing. I would suggest writing a letter/email to corporate (customer service) applauding their efforts to support this medium. Can't hurt.

Costco has never done that. They process in house right in front of you, sleeve your negatives and provide a contact print showing all the images.
They do great work (mine is equal to pro shops quality at the same resolution level) at an incredibly cheap price.

Do you think there's enough of a demand in film processing to warrant the fixing of their machine(s)?

Since processing was in house negs are always returned at my Costco

We still have the one Costco processing film , but they no longer make dvds from film which was a disappointment:mad: .I stopped having prints made and only bought the dvds.If a photo was worth printing after viewing the dvd a print would be made.

That's a bummer. They still do that at mine, in fact they even scan negatives that I bring in that they did not develop.
