Any digital Zeiss Ikon rumour?

with the Epson and the incoming M8 it seems me very strange that Zeiis Ikon has not planned to go seriously into digital; maybe they feel still not ready, they wait to have an M8 in their hands before make their move... but it is surely a vital question for them to enter in the market, at least with some speaking: no way out.
Personally speaking a Zeiss (even Cosina like Epson) might be a good solution: not so expensive as an M8 but a well made item with excellent lens. Display and firmware? they need just to choose... Nikon, Kodak, Sony , Canon, Samsung or whoever else...😕

Who needs digital? I don`t plus they are saying full-frame is not possible, who wants camera with crop factor? I don`t 🙂 as long as ilford produces film and fuji does velvia I don`t have need for digital, besides I own D200 😉

I don`t beleave even guys like you who enjoy images from zeiss and leica actualy want flat looking digital, digital is so lifeless! LONG LIVE FILM!

I'm not really interested in a Zeiss digital (or Leica digital) M mount camera either, but I've heard that lots of photojournalists would love to ditch their heavy DSLRs for a digital rangefinder that takes high quality lenses. The main rumor Zeiss has going for it is that unlike Leica, they plan to wait until a high quality, full frame sensor is available before making a digital ZI model.

Judging by the way my Zeiss 28mm M-mount lens is made, I'd guess that they've designed a lens system that could be mated to a full-frame digital RF body should one become available. At first, I thought it obviously meant they were working on producing such a body themselves. I realize now, however, that during the design stage they decided to cover their butts in the event that Leica actually had been able to make a full-frame M. From the lack of even the faintest rumor, I gather that Zeiss has no interest in producing one themselves.

Maybe it's needed to explain a little more.

Ok I love film; and I've got a real good cameras and lenses stock.
I agree the best thing for digital would be a full-frame camera, with a DMR-like sensor, but...
I've got a little space, I want to print via computer, and scanning might be not always the best choice... (if you need to scan five rolls of film, it may be a little boring...)
So I should like to use with my stock of lenses a digital body (yes fully framed will be best, but it might arrive in 2 years or not arrive in 30...see FAQ's) just to cover practical needs and have the freedom to choose (without loosing a liter of blood...). just this.
Hope to have films for 100 more years (and record vinyl too, but it's another question...)
