Any Electro 35 GTN CLA tips ?

I've just cleaned up the lens (minor fungus) and wish to clean the very dirty VF/RF, just wondering if there are any traps for the unwary ?

(springs that go ping, bits that drop out from unknown locations, bits that should remove but don't etc.) ?

I also need to knock up some sort of battery holder for this, no point doing all this work if the electronics are kaput.


Any advice/recommendations would be gratefully received. 🙂

VF cleaning is fairly easy, the top goes off nicely. then take some q-tips and clean the fog out. just be sure do DON'T clean or touch the semi-transparent mirror (45 degrees tiltet). the mirroring rubs of easily and the your VF is ruined. but appart from that its an easy job. there are some websites with tips on that topic, googling them might help you.

Thanks for that, I've cleaned a few RFs before, but all with knob-wind as opposed to lever-wind, and all without electronics (done a couple with selenium meters).

I'll have a go at it tomorrow if I get a quiet moment. 🙂

one thing I imagine is wire from body to PC socket - one has to eitehr pay attention not to tear it off or solder it off and on after work is done. On first Electro I did job not detaching wire.

Cleaned the RF, it's a lot brighter now. Lost the "battery check" button but thankfully found it again after a while. Hopefully at some point today I will have a battery holder and battery.

Not bad considering I thought the lens was too fungus infested, I only stripped the lens unit out of curiosity but it cleaned off well. Hopefully it will be a good user 🙂

Made a battery from 4 sr44 cells , cardboard, a spring and gaffer tape. Light seals seem OK so I might take this out with me this weekent with some C41 film to test it.


How is the metering on these for poor light ? will I have to set a lower ISO ?
