try a 75 'lux on the Bessa R3 yet? if so, please relate your findings. I'm considering foregoing the MP body in favor of the 1:1 finder and lower cost. After all t's still the glass right?

Can't say I've done that, but I'm with you on the Bessa + great Summilux glass route. I'm saving for the new 50 Summilux ASPH for my R2A. Some might think I'm crazy, but I'm hoping that the pictures will prove otherwise.

Of course at my current rate I'll have saved enough in...oh...2010?

I have never understood the purpose of really expensive glass when it comes to rangefinder photography (where many times I am shooting in available light, at around 1/30th), but I would like a Leica body if I could afford it, because its rugged and feels so nice to use (I will probably buy a M4 eventually). I think this varies from person to person (importance of body over lenses).

I agree with you...bodies v lenses are a personal preference. I feel that the lens is the most important component. If anyone is interested, S Gandy had informed me the only CV body capable of focusing the 50 Nokton or 75 'lux is the "T". With no built in viewfinder it may not be suitable for many shooters. I will probably end up saving for an "M" body or waiting for CV to produce a faster 75mm. I do like what I've seen of the CV 75 Heliar. In the meantime I will continue shooting with my "G" system. It's rugged, reliable and the Zeiss glass just kicks!!It will be interesting to see what the digital M does to used gear prices and availability. I'm sure many rangefinder fans will be trading M bodies.

Try the 40/2 Leica Summi or Minolta M-Rokkor. Same lens, though the Minolta is usually about $100 cheaper. Fab Leica quality for a mere $200-300. "Even" on my R-D1 I see a marked difference between my M-Rokkor and my J-8.
