Any ex-Navy Photogs out there?

My mother had (along with a Speed Graphic and a Mamiya C33) a shiny new IIIg and matching 50/3.5 and 90/4 in "A" school at Pensacola...she hated it. She was so happy when she went to San Diego and got a brand new Nikon F2 and 28/3.5, 50/1.4, and 105/2.5 as her basic kit (along with other fun toys like a 20/3.5 and an 85-250/4.5). Lots of glowing about easy loading and a huge finder. She borrows mine every now and then when her FE2 gets her angry🙂.

While in the US Navy in the early '70's, we were issued the M2 and 3 lenses, 35, 50 DR, and a 90. Anybody remember which 90?

I was in from 70-80.
At NAS Memphis we used the Topcon Super D outfit. At Barbers Pt. the same kit in addition to the Nikon F.
While aboard the USS Midway and at Atsugi Japan we used the M2 camera/lens.

The Leica kits had all Summicron lens..

Hang on! Summicron has to be f/2. A 90 with aperture f/2.8 would be an Elmarit or Tele-Elmarit (in M-mount) or an Elmarit in screw-mount.

hmmm....i copied it verbatim from the official Navy manual. i wouldn't have catched it since i don't have any leica gear and really know nothing about them.

my dad was in from 66-67 so it's possible the book was wrong and there were subsequent revisions.

if anyone's interested, i can scan the 4 or 5 pages and post them or email as pdf's.

sorry.
