Any Experience Shooting Fujicolor Superia 1600 Film

Looking at B&H website they list Fujicolor Superia 1600 negative print film. Surprised to see Fuji still makes it. Anyone used it? Have any results you can share.

If you have a favorite iso 800 or higher color negative print film please share why.

Quite a nice film actually. I tend to expose at ca. ISO800 tho (all mostly guesswork anyway)

Also Natura is quite similar although I think not exactly the same. But what do I know. For me it's same-ish enough to say it's the same.

I also like portra800 a lot! Especially since it is available in MF too.
I'd argue it is less pastel more red/brown-ish than the Fuji stuff.

Hi Greg, I shot a roll of long-expired Superia 1600, the results were still OK, gave an arty look. Some colour correction was needed but this was probably due to the old film stock.

I've shot it on occasion, and I even re-calibrated one of the GIIIs to properly meter with it. I haven't seen it on a retail shelf since maybe 2010 or so. I wasn't really aware that they still offered it. I guess I should pay more attention to the big B&H book, huh?

In Japan, Fujifilm stopped selling Superia 1600 and released Natura 1600 when they released the Natura branded Fujifilm compact film cameras, so I'm pretty sure it is the same stuff and Natura 1600 is just rebranding to match the marketing for the Natura compact film cameras.

This one was one from the first test roll, after recalibrating the GIII for 1600.

It looks like there's more daylight than there was! It was well into the dusk hour when this was shot.

In Japan, Fujifilm stopped selling Superia 1600 and released Natura 1600 when they released the Natura branded Fujifilm compact film cameras, so I'm pretty sure it is the same stuff and Natura 1600 is just rebranding to match the marketing for the Natura compact film cameras.

No, I bought those rolls of natura in HK.

The Superia has a nice look I really like. Very nice photos you shared. The pastel look is why Portra NC was a favorite film of mine.

Mju-II Superia 1600

lynn I have a couple of rolls of expired 800 film & I expect massive grain when I shoot it. Your photos show that with the right subject & light it can look good, as yours does.

I've recently shot Natura 1600 at a formal ball on a IIIf and Summar lens. A lot of grain, but did pleasingly well with mixed LED stage lighting and tungsten lights on the dance floor. Self developed in unicolor c41 kit and scanned with the Pakon 135+. Colored noise/artifacts on these images due to attachment compression to fit on this forum.

Yes, I have used Superia 1600 several times. Very good film!
- excellent sharpness and resolution
- very good, natural colours
- excellent in mixed lighting conditions due to its 4th layer technology.
