Has anyone seen any film scanner announcements from CES or Macworld, or even forthcoming from PMA? I've been looking for a Nikon Coolscan V, and they've been pretty scarce for a while now. I noticed that it was announced at Macworld 2004, so I had a sliver of hope that there would be an update this year. The only new scanners I've seen, though, are hybrid flatbeds like HP's G series. Is dedicated film scanner development finished?

I don't think much has changed since this thread and this one. I'm anxious to see what the reviews are for this M1 once it's finally released. It is looking like the dedicated film scanner market is drying up.

Thanks Amos, I think you're right. I'd held a little hope that something would come out of the two tradeshows, but I guess dedicated film scanners are really finished. Unfortunately, early reports of the HP G series are rather negative, and I haven't got high hopes for the Microtek.
On a positive note, I was able to find a reputable source for a Coolscan V and should have one next week.

That would spell the death of film almost as quickly as film manufacturing itself drying up.
