I found a hi-matic s at a thrift store for $2.99. It looks to be in working order, with only minor corrosion on one of the battery terminals. Light seals look a bit rough as well. I'm tempted to pick it up, but I can't find much info about image quality, durability, etc. Any experiences with this model someone can share?

I didn't know much about it, and also the fact that:
1) it's a mostly plastic body, so I questioned its durability
2) I already own a hi-matic F
3) it's a scale-focus, and I already have several

I don't have room for a museum (unfortunately), so if was only a so-so performer, I was going to pass. It sounds like it's worth the gamble, so I'll stop by tomorrow after work and snag it.

I went by the next day, and it was already gone. The plastic body and Holga-type scale focus didn't do much for me anyway.

I got a mint Minolta AL-F for about $1. This is a rangefinder with parallax control and the body is metal. Same lens (38/2.7). Think you will like this one better?

The Himatic F you have is a great little camera. Its my favorite "stick in my pocket" camera. Only problem is having to go online for batteries. Good for street and subway shots.
