I just got two 'traffic offence' tickets from the Municipal Police in Perugia from 3rd and 4th October 2007!
I was there then (in a hire car), but I always parked in a car park with a sticker on the windscreen and can't remember doing anything wrong. No policeman ever came up and served me with a notice or said anything at all...
The only indication I can see is that I committed a '7/1' - anyone know what that means?
It all seems rather strange, although they have the numberplate of the car and my name and address, they don't have the model of the car and it's taken then 1 year and 4 months to send me a letter - which means the fine has increased to 168 Euros as it's been more than 60 days since the alleged offence...
I think I'll be considering holidaying in Blighty in future
