Any LCS in Chicago where I can kick-the-tires?

Heading back to Chicago for Thanksgiving and have made it know to the travel companions (1 wife, 2 sons) that I want to spent a bit of time at a camera store. My goal is to play touchy-feely with a couple of Fuji X cameras and perhaps something from Mt. Olympus.

Initially I thought Calumet, but wondering what the locals could suggest in addition to or instead of. Des Moines (the big city here in Iowa) has a couple of Sony shops, lots of places have the usual DSLR, but if it doesn't sell volume no-one stocks.

I'm not pulling the trigger to purchase on this trip, just kicking the tires. I've become more of a design/user-interface snob over the past 10 years so I really want to feel before I buy. Some might say wiser, other would call it cheaper.

Still climbing out of financial issues so anything Leica or Film based is out of consideration.

Other than Central Camera Chicago doesn't have any real camera stores left...There is the Leica store in River North that's the only other one in the city besides Calumet.. On your way to Chicago off of I-88 called ProCam they probably have some Fuji cameras to play around with..

Calumet in Oak Brook would be on your way, and they carry Fuji. I'm not sure if Central does. Helix reopened in Itasca, but I've never been there.

That would blow my wife's mind as she worked for Helix way-back-when at their first location in Northbrook. Most excellent idea John.

I didn't see any Fuji on the ProCam web site Marko, need to look at Central later tonight, good ideas.

I was in Central camera last July. Wonderful old store. Lots of old used and new as well as darkroom supplies. I also went to Tamarkin and traded in some stuff and left with a little 35mm f3.5 Elmar for my IIIc. They are very nice folks and fun to visit with. Enjoy your trip. Joe

Not easy to get to from downtown Chicago. But a nice near north neighborhood.

Bill, I'm sure if you spoke slowly and softly, with clear and carefully enunciation, an explanation of why you need to "drop by" London and perhaps Tokyo to peruse some of the "better" camera shops would actually be a money saving exercise. Ladies just love it when saving cash is happening.
