Should I join? Can anybody give me a heads up on whether I should part with some $$$ and join?

I think it's important for dealers, technicians, and collectors to be members, but I honestly didn't find it too valuable for a shooter and didn't renew my membership after a my year was up. I'd like to go to one of the annual meetings at some point, but I don't think you need to be a member, you just have to pay the fees.

It's a valuable resource if you're interested in the Viewfinder magazine. As a member you'll have access to the archives dating back 40 years.

I Think LHSA is Worth It
Hi,
Interesting question. I have been a member for a couple of years. I find the Viewfinder (magazine) to be great. In addition, I've attended one event (Dayton, Ohio), which was instructive; more importantly, the members were very welcoming and helpful. They even had loaner M9s and lenses for the weekend.
I also enjoy their members only sales area, and the annual raffle (usually a digital rangefinder grand prize, and a few other nice Leicas for lower prizes).
Regards,
Reed
