traded for the nex?
Yep, Nex5 in silver. 1.5x crop is sweet. It's like a tiny RD1, in a way, with more megapixels...although giving up the EVF was difficult, it was overall a good trade.

I had a play with my friends nex 5 - build was nice, looked nice, and very good IQ from the sensor. However, lens was average (16mm and kit lens) and the user interface was very dumbed down.

The 18-55 is actually quite nice, exc. bokeh. It has a bit of barrel distortion. I don't have the 16mm. Considering the price, they are very good.
I only use the interface in A mode, which is all that is necessary for me, perfectly dumbed down.

Well-known
I have the NEX-5, don't find it dumbed down, the only really difference is that the mode dial is on the screen, not on the top plate. No biggie.
I use it with a Nokton, and the quality is awesome. I also have the 16mm, the quality is, well, meh, particularly wide open, it's actually quite soft.
I sometimes think I want a G1 or G2, as the EVF is so good, but it's the crop factor that always put me off.
Before the NEX, I had the GF1 with the 20mm, I miss the lens, but not the camera.

I'd rather have an EVF and the ability to use cine lenses with less vignetting.
The crop factor difference in 20%, and whether that Summicron gives you 80mm or 100mm equivalent field of view is no big deal IMHO.
