Any Minolta users out there?

I have two X-700 bodies, both of them have shutter problem before but fixed by local camera service. I have several minolta and Vivitar lens, the one I love most is the MD 50mm f1.4.

Last week, I won a bid for a MC 35mm f1.8, I can't wait using this lens to snapshot!

my friend just bought one too with similar problem.
he managed to unscrew the front element retaining ring and get to the blades. he put a dab of methylated spirits on the stuck blades using a q-tip [cotton swab] and the blades started moving. once it had fully evaporated he reassembled and it was all good.

Exactly. I have had to do this to a number of rangefinders. Just a little lighter fluid on a Q-tip and they should start to spring back and forth nicely.

I have two Minolta Hi-matic 7s rangefinders and two Minolta
SR-T101 SLR cameras. Yeah, how did slr's get into this thread?
Best regards,
/Clay

I have a 7sII; loaded it a while ago with iso 25 film and haven't have a good opportunity to use it since. Also needs new light seals.

I also have an Autocord that I love.

Wonderful cameras.

I have a Hi-Matic F that needs some attention. The shutter doesn't open with working batteries (the battery check light does work). I'm using too SR44s in one slot with a spring to short out the other battery slot.

Had another look at this little camera today and managed to get the shutter to work going in from the front. Once I got the blades to move the shutter sprang into life and so far has worked since then.

May have to try a film through it. :)

My Hi-Matic 7S is one of my most used cameras, even though I have several other much more costly ones (no Leica's though). Although the 7S and similiar models are a bit on the large and ugly side, they are a very good performer; reasonably good rangefinder, very sharp lense and best of all a metering system that works in manual or automatic. Also because it they are so inexpensive and plentiful, I treat it as a take anywhere camera; rain, snow, to the beach, whatever. Everybody should have one of these in their arsenal.
