If you've got a significant other (i.e. female OR male) go and give them ONE of your cameras for a day and see what they think of this "hobby" of ours.

My wife is as much of a photographer as I am. She and I don't see eye-to-eye on equipment or the need to understand how it works. But her performance (as measured in great images) is FANTASTIC.

The big difference between us is that she has not one iota of interest in talking about cameras, film, photography, filters, straps, gender-difference/equity with a bunch of, well... to use her words... "wierd-o's" like us (me included). 😀

Brian, I thihnk Volker is one of the smart guys who are not married. (Oops, did I say that out loud?) i don't mean it, always.

I'm happy, I'm married. My wife doesn't look anything like that, nor did any of my girlfriends. I'm just trying to get a vicarious thrill. Please, Volker... if you haven't married her yet... tell me that's your GF! 😀

I thought that trying to understand why we have so few female members is a highly important question for all of us. Obviously whoever doesn't share this feeling may not reckognize any significant damage to the thread.

But take for instance how some women guests may be viewing the end of this thread and our "continue sleeping attitude", of high concern to them, for the evalution wether we are to be joined or not.

That's what I figured Brian 🙂

I AM going to generalize here so be wary 🙂 I think that women, in general, don't give a rats "you-know-what" if it's an M3, an M6, a IIIc, a Hexar, a Bessa R/R2/R2A, Canon (EOS/RF or otherwise) etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum. As long as it does what they want it to do, when they want it to do it (i.e. take nice clear photos) then it's all good. It's a lot like any other type of "gearhead" talk - automobiles, stereo equipment etc. - as long as the "thing" in question does what it was advertised to do, then who cares what bells and whistles it has.

Well, I can tell ya, mostly guys; that's who cares 🙂

We often get lost in the whole "framelines/tack sharp/minty condition" stuff and forget what we're supposed to be doing with these instruments.

That's just how I see things mind you and I'm not about to tell everyone that they need to think the way I think.... we are, after all, autonomous beings and not automatons.

No, not my wife, but then she was my girlfriend. Due to several problems between men and women, or better me and women, she's now married

PLEASE tell us how this is done. I tried deleting several of my child's smart-aleck comments and it resulted in a re-posting of addditional equally annoying comments. I tried banning him temporarily but he reminded me that we share the same surname and because of htat I can't ban him. What wonderful moderating tricks do you have?
