Why would they? I would hope because someone wants to.
I'm guessing that's a reference to the small market for M-mount stuff (is it that small?).
I do notice that many 3rd party lenses I've seen lately are offered in a very wide range of mounts, but almost never including M-mount. And, I suspect it has nothing to do with technical difficulty (these are usually manual focus lenses, etc.) or design limitations (size, registration, etc.).
Regardless, I do hope more ZM lenses appear.

Zeiss seems to have a limited line-up for Sony Loxia, and my suspicion this is the new norm. They have yet to add a 135mm in both Loxia and ZM. But I tend to think they're "done" with ZM. As a Zeiss lover... I'd love to see more in both lines. If you want something, write them and let them know.

If they made a lens in M mount, it can be used on lots of lovely M mount cameras And CSC with an adapter. Where as E mount, only fit one brand.

Of course, Zeiss needs to know if there is a market for a given offering (be it M-mount, E-mount, or heck Minolta MD-mount). Need to give companies some credit for producing a product without fully knowing the market. Its a gamble.
I would love to see more M-mount lenses from Zeiss, but I wonder if the market is currently too ambivalent.
Zeiss probably has at least a clue about the market. Or maybe they'll do a little "market research" and determine the demand for M-mount products. Perhaps there is demand? Or maybe write Zeiss and ask when will the 135/2 be available in M mount? I dunno.
As a side note: I would like to find a moderate speed 21mm lens that performs reasonably well on digital Leica body, but at a price point below the Leica SEM (21/3.4). My current choices are the pre-Asph Elmarit and Zeiss 21/2.8 but neither is a clear winner for me. So maybe Zeiss will cough up a surprise 21 in the near future? 🙄

Rangefinders better suited to standard and wide angles, for 135/2 stick to the Zeiss SLR lens. They have the 35mm length covered. but a f1 in 50mm or f2 in 28,25,21?
