Any news on the new Plustek 120 scanner?

If this scanner is around two grand (or just over) here in Oz I'll be very interested. When I bought my V700 many years ago it was damned expensive for a flatbed but our dollar at the time was pretty weak against most other currencies.

This is dragging out though and at the rate film is disappearing over the horizon emulsion after emulsion they need to get it out there ASAP.

Too little info even right before launch. No concrete specs and samples... Decided not to wait and just picked up a Nikon CS 9000 used... very happy w/ it so far.

Yes, they really really need to make it available in SHORT SHORT time.
Enough is enough, first talks about this scanner were in 2010!!

Seems they want to launch it at Photokina, no matter what.

I suppose the message there will be something like: "It's available worldwide as of today!"

Still, I need more paid gigs soon so I can stock up on film and buy the scanner, or will have to switch to digital... :(

mdruziak@plustek: any chance that the technology in the 120 scanner (sensor/lens/autofeed) make it into the next generation of 35mm only scanners?

Any chance that the new scanner will be available at different price points, with different levels of crippleware? I love that feature in my 7600i.

I really love that the 7600i SE was advertised as providing 16 bit greyscale scans when in fact the software scans in 16 bit but then downgrades the file to 8 bit. It's great that the documentation is so obfuscated that it was nearly impossible for me to know this before buying, despite spending many hours researching my purchase. I'm so happy I will be forced to pay over half of the purchase price of the scanner again to add just one feature which it was seemingly advertised as having in the first place. I greatly enjoyed spending many hours trying to optimize my flat scans before I figured out that I was the victim of garbage crippleware.

I really hope that Plustek will partner with Silverfast again on this new product for more shady ripoff shenanigans.

Not me.

I will likely be pulling the trigger on a Nikon D3200 with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm and a self-built lightbox set-up to re-shoot my 120 negatives and convert them in Photoshop in a few months time.

It'll be a hassle to get it all done but it'll be cheaper once it's up and running and it will spare me the sale of gear that I want to use to earn a living with.

Well I know our product manager at B&H has said he was very happy how many of you have pulled the trigger!

How about posting up some scans? I'm quite tempted and wanting to pull the trigger, but I don't have enough info yet to make such a purchase without even seeing any test scans.

I should've waited for reviews, samples, etc...
II guess I'm crazy and impulsive, but I can't wait to get rid of my V600!!!

Seems like the scanner is on the market. So - when we will see those official reviews from people who got the scanner directly from Plustek so that world can see what is this scanner capable off?

Pretty sure that the official launch is still projected for Photokina! Only weeks now for those that possibly can swing it :D

:(

man at 2k this thing is a seriously good deal assuming it lives up to Mark's hype.

I hope that if performance is really good we will see a higher end 35mm model with batch scanning and high output resolution.

Putting your money up front for a 'cold' product is not something I do easily. Hopefully after Photokina image samples will abound and we'll all be happy!
