Any other charger for M8 battery?

Having recently got an M8 to add to my R-D1, I have started searching for a smaller charger for the battery. With the R-D1, since the battery was a clone of the Fuji NP-80 battery, after-market chargers were available, including a really tiny one which easily fit in the camera bag.

Does anyone here know if the M8's battery is shared with any other piece of equipment, even in configuration if not other specs?

There's a thread on the L.U.F. where some guy fashioned a DIY travel charger for the M8 battery. If you're handy with a soldering iron or know someone who is, it might be an option.

We don't know yet if this one will charge the Leica batteries, but it looks promising.

Ed I have been following this with interest but I am a bit confused - can we say for certain that the "Travel Battery Charger NP-80 / NP-100 AC/DC" works for certain with the M8 battery?

Ed, Thanks a bunch. I'll check it out. I was at an art fair today for about 6 hours and shot about 90 frames. Ran the first battery, which had started out at about 2/3 charge dry, then ran a second battery dry. I carry five, but the R-D1 uses them up like popcorn.

Does anyone have an update on whether there are any alternative battery chargers for the M8? I finally decided to buy one but am seriously disappointed with the charger size. Traveling with this thing is going to be really painful when I just have a backpack. I have a feeling it's going to come down to a choice between carrying the charger and something important like a first aid kit or another day's worth of underwear!

Read this thread on the LUF re a new charger that Leica is going to sell. I am not sure however that it will meet your size requirements.
