it was taken with the Color-Skopar (LTM), and as far as I remember there was not much post-processing. I took these a few years ago so I can't really remember...

Are you guys using accessory finders (35 I assume)? Or are you just using the whole viewfinder and guessing the rest?

After some time just guessing, I bought a 28mm external finder and feel much more comfortable to see what I´m doing.

An SLR lens ought to give you less vignetting for sure, as the light is coming in at a less oblique angle.

You know what, the full frame of the RD-1 viewfinder is pretty much right on for the CV21. I just did some experimenting this evening. You really have to hunt around with your eye, though, and glasses are out of the question.

These pics are really inspiring. I've been thinking about a 28 for the R-D1, but I might go with the 21. On the R-D1, is the difference between the 15mm and the 21 huge? I have a 15mm but haven't really gotten a chance to use it much on my R-D1 - something was wrong with it and it's been out for repair. I'm off to Japan at the end of july and really want to make sure I have the wide angle covered in a good way.

the 21 = 32 fov

big difference for me.
i have found that with the rd1 my favourite lens so far is the zm 28 which = a 43 fov.

in 35 mm i preferred the 21 fov, didn't own a 28 and the 35 was almost always on my camera.

i started a thread about fov and seeing that you might find interesting. (in the rd1 forum)

I like this lens very much despite its big size, due to Biogon construction and the distortion is very well controlled (or virtually no distortion). If I have another chance to choose the 21mm, I definitely will get the CZ 21mm f/4.5 C version.

Here are some more photos taken with the 21/4 Skopar P (M-mount). I find that the Voigtlander 28mm metal finder works very well with the 21mm lens.

I do find the vignetting to be very disturbing, though. It requires a lot of adjustment in post processing, which can be tolerable at ISO 200, but often makes for noisy corners at higher ISO. Aside from the vignetting, the lens is wonderful, especially when stopped down a bit.

All the "pancake" designed 21mm lenses seem to suffer from on the R-D1. The Zeiss, Leica and Kobalux 21/2.8 vignette less.

Yes it's rangefinder coupled, but only from infinity to 0.7m. (The SA21/3.4 is able to focus as close as 0.4m, so we'll have to estimate by eye from 0.7m to 0.4m.)

But it doesn't meter on any camera. I either use an external meter, or guess and shoot, check, adjust and then take another shot.
