Nice of Ilford to add the mint flavor! I notice Fuji has recently changed to a self-adhesive sealing strip; you just raise the little tab and peel away the protective part and it all sticks down around the roll. No licking and leaving DNA trails!
Yes, Ilford taste the best!!!
Funny story, the first roll I shot with my Hasselblad was the first roll of 120 film I had ever seen. I got the wrapper off, loaded the back fine, and went and made my 12 exposures. It was a winter day, about 5 degrees F, and windy. I was pretty frozen when I got back to the car. Well, I turned on the heater and drove around for a little while to warm up. I pulled into a donut shop to get some coffee, went back into the car and decided to take the film out of the back. Well, I got it out all right but I couldn't figure out what to do with it. I knew if I put it down it would unwind and that wouldn't be good. I was at a loss, there was nothing I could do with this roll of film. I decided to make sure the paper was wrapped tight, held it in my hand, and drove to the nearest camera shop. I had to park a couple blocks away from the shop, so I stuffed my un-gloved hand into my coat pocket and made my way into the artic tempertures to the store. When I walked in the nice lady greeted me and asked if she could help me with anything. Little did she know the man infront of her was going to raise a clinched hand and say, "I need to do something with this." Well needless to say, I was the joke of the morning. She welcomed me to the world of MF photography by teaching me some of the basics, like licking the little tail and sealing the roll. I also learned that day to wrap my exposed film in foil to help protect the film from light if it was to sit for any period of time prior to development. She also went in back and sweet talked the guy working the processing machine to do my roll right away so I could see the results. So, perhaps for the only time ever, I had 120 film processed in one hour.

Once i was also lost myself - i finished a roll of delta3200 in the Yashica D, i took the roll out and ... nothing to lick-and-lock on it! I dunno where it ended up, or if it was there at all, but i've never found it...
Well, I just talked to my father, a friend just gave him a Super Ricohflex for me. I will pick it up in a couple days. Dad says it is in "pristine" condition, with Apex flash, case and all the papers. From his description, it has an Auto Stop attached to it. This should be a nice little toy to play around with.

Now that I've brought my Pearl River TLR down off of the shelf (because of this thread) , I discover (rediscover) that twin lens reflexes do some things really well. Sort of like rangefinders -- kind of out of date but nothing has come along that does what they do. We need a TLR forum. And I need a Minolta Autocord.

(that comes between taking out the garbage and buying us flowers
PS: And Pherdi's D is HERE !!! And it IS BEAUTIFUL !!! and I still have a 20 page article to read and write a work about :bang:
I put it yesterday in the closet with the Rollei so they could start chatting with its clicks and clacks, the Rollei is a tad shy and sometimes it sticky shutter could only came out with a rrrrrrrrrr-click.

Actually, there are a lot of us here with TLR's. They seem to stick to the same kind of people rangefinders stick to.Gordon Coale said:We need a TLR forum
I'm wondering (out loud) if a TLR category in the gallery here would make sense? A place where we could post some of our TLR work. And as Gordon says, maybe a TLR topic forum to capture some of the tech chat?

Actually, i attached a little rangefinder device to the cold shoe of the Yashica-D TLR once, just for the fun (not very practical to use!) but had no second camera to take a picture of it. I wanted to prove that TLR pictures do fit in the gallery here!

I'd like a TLR space on this fine site!

Well, I have two TLRs, too (a Yashicamt sans number or letter, and a Mamiya C220), but rarely use them - they are just so bulky... (so I rather take my Iskra).
WLF-viewing is nice for taking unnoticed street-pictures, though!

I also wouldn't mind seeing a TLR forum... it just might inspire me to get off my butt and use the Seagull more

There are perfectly good TLR posting galleries already in existence like this one:
http://www.rollei-gallery.net/index.html
Adding one here might just burden down what we already enjoy for rangefinders. Unless of course this is like missionary work and we want to acquire more rangefinder converts.

There may be other sites for TLR, but none of them have this group of folks. It'd be interesting if we could do a poll to see how many of us also use TLR's. Anyone know how to do that?

The Rollei gallery link doesn't seem to work. However, from the description it sounds like a place for Rollei enthusiasts, not TLR enthusiasts. There is a difference. I suppose it would be like showing up at a Leica convention with a FED 2 or an Agfa Isolette.

I don't post comments here that often, much less photos. As I have read this thread though, I have thought that another gallery wasn't necessary, and especially an area within the forum for TLR's. After all, this is the Rangfinder Forum. Right?
But FrankS, you have put forth the best argument I have seen. This place and the people in it are pretty unique.
I don't think we can ask Jorge for anther forum, he is already running three, and has a full time job. Another area in this forum or even a gallery begs the question, why not for SLR, MF, etc. My suggestion, we already have an area for non-RF camera shots. Use it for TLR shots. Use this thread for TLR related comments.
That way I think, we have the best of both worlds; this remains the RFF, and still we can post on TLR's when we wish. Most importantly, we don't loose this wonderful little community of wonderful people.
My two cents.

I just tried the Rollei Gallery link and went straight there.
I also uploaded a photo to make sure that it was still active.

Well, between RFF and eBay I am undone -- or really fortunate. Kind of like that glass that is either half empty or half full. Which is it?
I've been looking for a Minolta Autocord. I won one tonight. It looks a little dirtier than I would have wanted but the seller was throwing in a Welta Reflecta. How could I resist? It's not a Weltini (that is such a great name), but Reflecta kind of rolls off the tongue, too.
Autocord and Reflecta
Did I stop there?? Noooooo! I had to go and check the sellers other items. Now I also own a Meopta Flexaret III. Flexaret is another cool name. It has all sorts of filters, a cute lens case, and a lens hood.

I picked up my Super Ricohflex. It seems to be in decent shape. Shutter fires and aperture stops down. Screen is dim, auto stop thingy isn't stopping, but there is a red window, so that is not big deal. The big issue is that the focus rings are frozen. I may make this my first fixer-upper.

D'oh!
Gordon - I, too, just picked up an Autocord. Mine is a CDS III, which also takes 220 film, in excellent ++ condition. Everything works well, but the focus is a bit stiff. I'm sending it off to Ross Yerkes for a thorough cleanup before I pass the first roll through it.
I've lalyed around with it a bit and the ergonomics seem outstanding. Very nice design - better than my Ikoflex, and even better than the Mamiya C330f that I used to own.
