I just acquired a 8.5cm Leica finder that looks exactly like the one being sold by a camera dealer at this link:

It was in a lot of other RF gear I bought locally. Can it possibly be worth this sort of money? Is this a finder for the famous Summarex? FYI the construction quality and bright line visibility is stunning on this piece.

Wow! I have one of those in brilliant condition. Greatest fi85mm nders around indeed. However I don't think they are that rare and valuable.
I will gladly sell mine for that kind of money! ;-)

I don't know much about these finders (I believe they are called SGOOD in leica shorthand) but they seem to be rare and go for quite some money (like £300-ish).

Wouldn't know about market value, but the only 8.5 cm lens that Leitz made was the Summarex. Since the angle of view does not differ much, the finder could also be used with a 9 cm lens.

There's somewhat of an expert on most all things Leica/ LTM named Marc James Small on the LUG. You might wanna ask him there. Looks like you can "retire" after you sell it.
Congrats on a good find/ buy.

BTW, David: I'm still looking for a good Summar or Canon 50/ 1.5!!!!!!

FWIW, I've always found that The Classic Camera's s/h prices are roughly twice those you'd find on eBay.

The SGOOD and SGVOO look identical in design and quality of construction (I have the latter with dual scale). Both appear on eBay with some regularity and elicit limited interest ($100-200). The feeding frenzy can be found in the vicinity of SBLOO and SLOOZ.

I made a big mistake: mine is a 90mm finder. Way different and much cheaper I guess.
So the 85mm might be quite a rare one indeed.
