I would never Sherry Krauter. She is well trained but totally unreliable and her tough guy attitude is just plain unprofessional. I sent her a 28mm Elmarit lens and then never heard from her. After four months I drove 50 miles to take it back because she would not answer emails or phone messages. So if you really need your equipment my advice is to find someone else.

Only that? You could have worked "yogi" into there somewhere.
Seriously, this was the most absolutely hilarious string of words I've seen in a along time, whether part of trolling or not.

I have to say that the M5 and repaired M2 arrived today. They took a bit longer then I hoped (expected them about 3 days ago). But the M5 looks mint (looks much better then the photo on the website). And she repaired my M2 for free.
Would I send her stuff again or buy another camera from her (I bought an M2 from her last year). You betcha!!

She will never change, she is perfect for those she is perfect for.
I adore her.
She always fixed my Leica stuff perfectly too. But I moved away from Leica when I moved away from film.

Every personality is different based on their lives. That's why finding friends or spouses is not just walking up to the first person you see and saying "you are now my friend!" Yet, those that are not a match for our personality, amazingly still make friends.
Sherry is like that. Some like her. Those that don't probably won't like those that do either. I didn't have a problem dealing with her, but I understand personality differences and I am flexible when dealing with people. If you cannot be, you'll have a lot of heartache in life. (Or some kind of ache).

Sherry rescued my old M5, brought it back to new condition short of the small ding in the edge of the top-plate, then added frame lines for the 75 for me some time later. She worked on all three of the CLs I've had, and made them wonderful machines again. Never any problems, I've mostly mailed things in but have dropped off/picked up in person.

You can't just keep trolling once someone pulls out the "Oh you!" card. It just doesn't work. I get it now, you don't like her and are being facetious, but at least say what the real gripe is for the sake of the thread. It could be helpful to someone else.
I don't understand the source of your confusion on this but for the record, I like Sherry Krauter as a person and as a Leica repair technician. I have never had a problem with Sherry or her work.
It may be that she has gotten somewhat slower in her turnaround times and more gruff over the years since she last worked on any of my M kit, I can't say. But then again, who among us has not gotten slower and more gruff as we have gotten older??
Give the woman a bit of slack, people.
Sorry for the lapse - but I'm glad you enjoyed my commentary. My point was not to troll, but to say that for the effete, spoiled princesses out there - Sherry's probably not going to be your cup of cinnamon soy latte.Only that? You could have worked "yogi" into there somewhere.

I just had Sherry fix some awful repair work done by a local tech on my M5 and she did an absolutely amazing job. For the M5, I think she's probably the best person in the country to send your camera to.

The M5 is one of Sherry's favorite cameras.

So, how long do you think one should wait for a refund? I returned the M5 to her and it was delivered on 7/18. I have yet to see the refund and I am trying to be nice and not email or call her.
I have had pretty good dealing with her in the past. The main reason I returned the camera was I decided I did not need a fifth film camera or a third film Leica. My favorite models are M2's and I have a nice pair (one of which was purchased from Sherry last summer).

A PSA:
I loved the work she did on one of my cameras so much I sent her my second M5 and it's now been with her for 10 weeks. She is apparently VERY behind due to the death of her mother and now some mobility issues. She has been unable to get down into her shop for well over two weeks now, which has held her up on finishing repairs and getting them sent out.
If you were going to send your leica to her, you may want to hold up until she resumes normal service.

Yes, she owes me an M5 as well. I talk to her every couple weeks and knew about her leg but not her mother. Am not pushing too hard as I have two M2's and an M9. Hopefully, she will be back to normal soon.

I had a bad experience with a repair (RF vertical alignment off, twice) that Sherry did on an M6. DAG fixed it for me at a discount. I came to trust DAG's work as the best, but I thought the turnaround time was too long for me. I had Youxin upgrade my M6 to a MP finder, and the quality of work and quick delivery were excellent.

DAG and Youxin are fantastic. But for the M5, Sherry is THE expert.
