Part of my reason for wanting something different than my D40 is something a little more compact and even lighter - thanks to a herniated disk in neck. I had thought about getting a small camera like the Leica X2 and using the D40 for longer shots (wildlife etc).
However, now that I'm seeing the M 4/3rds and what they have to offer I'm curious how well they would do with the long end. Don't see a lot of shots with longer lenses on these cameras?
Anyone shooting longer (i.e. over 100m) native M4/3 lenses? Can you post some photos?

I don't really shoot with long lenses but I recently replaced my D40 with a Panasonic G3. Its certainly cleaner at high ISOs and the additional megapixels are much appreciated since I'm not above cropping photos. I really like the EVF for my manual focus lenses too. I kept my D40 but haven't touched it since I got the G3, its a big step up (figuratively speaking).
To make this somewhat relevant to your question, I haven't had any problems with my adapted 105/2.5 (longest lens I own). The extra DOF from the smaller sensor is nice and the manual focus assist is a fantastic feature.

Thanks for the responses. Probably a good thing they don't seem to be available right now or I'd have impulsively ordered an OM-D E-5m. (these names are hard for a dyslexic like me btw).
I went an compared the M Zuiko 75-300(430g and $900) with the AFS 300 f4 I was thinking about getting for the D40 (1.4kg and $1700). Makes the Oly look even better for my aching neck and back.

I shot the 75-300mm at an Oly press event at the US Open last year--

Only used it that day, with the E-PM1. I'm not a sports shooter, and I don't know tennis well enough to predict the action, but got a few decent shots.

Here are three samples taken with the 45-200mm @ 200mm.

I'm at the age when camera shake is getting worse but the on-lens stabilisation of this lens seems to be coping.

I have not used native long lens on my E-PL1 but these shots were done with a Minolta Rokkor-X MC 200mm f/3.5 lens on the above camera..

Here are a couple from the Zuiko m43 40-150 on a G1 in New Zealand/South island--very little pp development. Were I shooting this now, I'd use manual focus/shoot without lens. There's decent focus assist though the lens isn't fast.
