Leica nuts
Mine still gets regular use. I'm sure the newer ones are faster/better but the old girl still has some life left in her. Auto focus still seems more than fast enough.
Everything works and the rubber coverings are still OK. It really is built like a tank.
To be honest I'm not sure what to do. I was considering upgrading to a Leica SL... Hmmm

No but I'm using a Eos 1ds (Mark I) and it still takes great shots, but today I pick
up a Nikon D3 so I'll be deciding if it stays or not.

Sold mine a year or so ago. Great camera but a bit large for me.
Kept the 5d (original) and it is still going strong. I did have to buy a couple new batteries this year. The old ones finally reached the point where they would hardly keep a charge long enough to get out in the field and start shooting.
Not surprising to me that you still use the 1Ds, Canon builds a very tough camera.

I bought one when they came out and sold it three years ago. They produce excellent files even compared to today's cameras.

Dear sc,
I still use an EOS 1D Mk2. I find it produces better results than my EOS 40D. The files just seem to have more color depth and pop even though they are 8.2 mpeg files vs. the EOS 40D's 10.1 mpeg files.
I'll never be one who buys a brand new camera except for a new Panasonic FZ200 so that I would have a reliable and full featured P&S and a new Olympus TG8010 so that I could carry it while fishing and not worry about dunking it.
New digital SLR's are simply out of my price league and most are laden with features with which I have no interest such as video and Wi-Fi. When I can find a well maintained EOS 1D Mk3 I'll probably buy it and be all set.
Regards,
Tim Murphy

Bought a used 1Ds for fullframe ability (37000 actuation)
Been thinking of 1D mk2n or mk3 as second body. Great cameras for reasonable prices, and far above my current abilities
Both are heavy enough to use as weapons in an emergency.

Yes, I do. Even if it hasn't the dynamic range of my Sony A900 nor the high ISO capabilities, it still is a nice camera to use. Here some pictures I took this week:

Canon EOS 1Ds | Canon 50/1.4 USM | f/5.6 | 1/80s | 100iso

Canon EOS 1Ds | Canon 50/1.4 USM | f/4 | 1/60s | 100iso

Canon EOS 1Ds | Canon 50/1.4 USM | f/2 | 1/640s | 100iso
It however seems my 50/1.4 has died on me.... Oh, well, enough other lenses!
