I'm looking for someplace to buy some strap lugs for my pentax 67 in transit. Keh has some but shipping is more than the lugs themselves. Does anyone know if they do custom shipping? I got my 67 body shipped from hong kong expedited for around the same price as KEH's "economy" shipping.

UPDATE.

Spoke with a nice guy over there and ended up shipping the lugs over for a mere $8.00. He was quick to respond to emails and took my information over the phone. Ship out monday.

Im not sure why they don't give this option for smaller items by default though.

Either way new lugs on the way, I'll match it up with a strap I have here.

Ouch!! That's crazy. My advice would be to buy some other gear and lump them together. That way you can at least justify the outlandish shipping charges. May be get a 55mm f/4 or a 45mm to go with the 105 (which I'am sure you have)

I just checked..if you could get them to ship it in a small international flat rate box, it's $19.00 US.

I'd call customer service and ask for help.

I get $20 to Canada from the USA using the USPS..... NOT a Private Carrier. (FedEx, UPS)
using a 12.5x9.5 USPS Priority padded envelope.
So, KEH must not offer USPS as a international service

USA to Canada is crazy mail prices..... we should have a better rate for the back and forth mail for our neighbor

yeah, that's why I don't buy from keh.com any more. Shipping is way too expensive.

So, it is only worthwhile if I find something super-rare and expensive, to make the shipping worthwhile.

I've emailed KEH about it. If it's $20 that's still almost the cost of the item! Maybe it would be worth it to look into another lens... Thanks to those who posted. I'll post up what KEH has to say once I get a response for future information

For "small" stuff like that, I'd try to get it elsewhere. Some sites offer USPS shipping to Canada and you can get away with about 20$ which is a bargain compared to UPS/Fedex not to mention the arbitrary border convenience fee they impose

US-CA shipping is definitely weird though

I've purchased many items for KEH over the years, and recently bought a focusing screen that cost about $15.00 or $16.00. The salesman I always deal with (named Arthur) is a price of a fellow and he always tries to save me money whenever he can. For the focusing screen he suggested sending it to me here in Canada by regular mail in a small padded envelope.
I wasn't in any great hurry for the item so I agreed and the cost was very reasonable. Perhaps they could do the same for you.

here's my 2 cents...

I'm a freshly minted 6x7 user, and I bought a brand new OP/TECH USA Super Pro strap for my 6x7, which has its own strap lugs.

http://optechusa.com/super-pro-strap.html

I've used it. It's comfortable, it's good for all-day use, it's long enough to sling the camera over one shoulder, and it's only $26.95 for the entire thing! Not only that, I checked shipping to Toronto, and it's $11.05 USPS, $30.75 priority or $24.10 for UPS.

I don't know if you were looking for an aftermarket strap, but I decided with my 6x7 I wanted something wide and comfortable to carry it all day, and ths delivers...not only that, it's cheaper than just the lugs from most sources!

That's awesome ! I'll keep that in mind for next time, thanks !

This is a general problem ("curse") for those of us living in Canada... sp many US-based vendors with good prices become unreasonably expensive once you factor in shipping, unless (and sometimes even if) the order is really big. Ah well.

Love KEH. Always friendly and helpful. If you call them, they will work with you on the shipping, I'd bet... as said above. I agree with the envelop thing. I'd bet if you talk to them they'd do that for you and it would be way cheaper.

A quick and dirty price check on USPS.com says that a "Large envelope" via First Class with a 1/4" lumpy content would be under $7 USD to ship from here to there.

Keh has always had pricey shipping, but they offer real good deals on working gear.
Where else can you find bargain condition gear with a guarantee?

Yeah I've been buying from them for thirty years. I try to lump enough small stuff together to justify the shipping. If I have to wait until they get something I want, I wait.
