Anyone buy from KEH?

I've purchased things from their ebay store (kehoutlet) and the shipping (in US) is free...they even give a free 180 day warranty...
Granted they don't have everything for sale there but it's worth looking in to every once and a while...
I bought a Mamiya m645 body that had issues, they just sent another body and said to keep the first one...

Beware KEH only grade on aesthetics not operation. I have had stuff from them that "looks" mint but is actually broken.

I wouldnt go that far, but their grading has been getting pretty lazy in the past couple of years. Still, they are a great place to buy from if you can justify the shipping. Their customer support is top notch!

Off topic but, I've gone through no less than 6 Pentax 6x7 bodies from KEH and all had defects. The cosmetics ranged from bargain to EX (they all looked EX to me!!). One camera could not be focused properly the others all would jam at shutter speeds slower than 1/250. A problem my own 6x7 suffers from. They were very good about returns and promptly refunded the money in each case. However I noticed that within days the website updated with the same bodies (at the same prices).

Needless to say I'am still looking for a backup Pentax 67 (I'am too afraid to buy off ebay because of the shutter speed issue)

UPDATE.

Spoke with a nice guy over there and ended up shipping the lugs over for a mere $8.00. He was quick to respond to emails and took my information over the phone. Ship out monday.

Im not sure why they don't give this option for smaller items by default though.

Either way new lugs on the way, I'll match it up with a strap I have here.

I -never- use the internet with KEH. They don't keep up, calling is the way to get something done. They are always friendly and helpful.

I went through three Hasselblad 500mm F8 Tele-Tessars, then I gave up. They refunded every penny, including return shipping. All I was out was my time.

Their shipping charges went up after Christmas. I bought several lenses before and then a couple after and the price went up about 12%.

I also have noticed they aren't as stringent on their grading as they used to be. I sent two lenses back that had obvious impact damage and paint loss on one and one that was so stiff I had problems focusing it. These were Nikon AIS lenses and all were graded EX. They fortunately make it easy to return things and they pay the fedex but you're still out the initial shipping.

yeah, that's why I don't buy from keh.com any more. Shipping is way too expensive.

KEH does not set the high price. In fact they give discounted rates. Most retailers have a contract with the carrier where they can give discounted prices.

From the FED EX site: FedEx International Economy® 79.24

So KEH's shipping price is cheaper..

In case you use your own packing (like KEH does).

Well I don't want to jump to conclusions but It looks like I got what I deserved!

I haven't seen any sight of the lugs in the mail. After calling USPS it seems they were shipped to Saint Lucia. :O

I have very little hope of ever seeing them any time soon. With shipping being so cheap its clearly not insured, and may not necessarily be KEH's fault in mis shipping. I wouldn't expect them to compensate me for it since they already went out of their way once.

Im back on the hunt for some lugs again.

I'm going to be a broken record and suggest the OP/Tech strap again cause its so comfortable.
