anyone buy the new 35/2.8 yet?

Yes Joe,
Why don't you get it, test the heck out of it, post results here so we will all know if we should get it. ;)

i seem to be less curious about this lens lately, well...less curious in that i am not in as great a rush to get one.
i am still very curious to hear what an owner/user has to say about it though.

plus, being very broke helps lessen that curiosity;)

i looked at my 35/2 and it's not really so big...

amazing that no one here has bought one.

not being in a rush is a good thing. it's not like an in-production lens is going to disappear soon. compared to the feeding frenzy that has occurred here over other newly-released lenses, the collective sang-froid is kind of refreshing. zm refreshing.

the shots we saw on flickr were really gorgeous and suggest to me that it is really one heckuva lens. it'll make a great platoon player with my nokton 35/1.2 .

i'm planning to buy one eventually...sooner rather than later. but not today.

This one sort of confuses me. I'm thinking about buying a Zeiss 35.
While I tend to like smaller lenses, I find it hard to justify - in my mind - the minimal price difference (about $60) between the 35/2 and the 35/2.8.

I'll be interested to see more images from this new Zeiss lens.

if i keep the cv 1.4 35mm lens, which i think i will be doing since it seems to work so well on the zi body, then the zm 2.8 would be a good partner to it.
of course most would just 'settle' on a f2 lens and be done with it.

"a masterpeice lens" -- not just high praise, but high praise coming from someone who has actually tried all those other well-known lenses.

maybe that will start the sharks circling.

thanks, dougford. if you have any scans to show, please post them. or then again, maybe don't post them.

things is the 35 f2 is spectacular too... For the 2.8 to cost more in the UK is madness and as for the claim that Zeiss have priced it close because they know it is so good, well, this does not seem likely to me. I suspect that it will not see too well in light of the close price and will come down somewhat. The 21 4.5 was similar but is now a fair bit less than the 2.8 and is a lot smaller relative to the 2.8 than the 35 f2.8/f2. IMO a 35 f2.8 should be price in line with the 50 f2 planar or thereabouts ie at least $100 cheaper than it is right now. It will be interesting to see if it comes down, but as for it being so much better than the f2 version, we will see! I find it somewhat unlikely.

I know that Tom A has the new 35/2.8 lens. I saw it on his M2 in Tokyo last Sunday. Hopefully he can give us a heads up on its performance once he's back in Vancouver and has developed and scanned the film from his Japan trip.
