Anyone ever open a V700?

Very simple ... once you get those damned plugs out that blank off the top screws. There was a little trick to that but I cant remember what it was sorry!

I cleaned mine thoroughly about six months ago and have noticed it's pretty hazy again already ... but I figure if a little haze in a lens is supposed to be so unimportant a scanner should be little different! :D

I have had to clean the haze off the inside of every scanner I've owned. Windex (the original stuff) and/or 100% isopropanol worked great. The worst part was trying to reassemble it without any tiny particles of lint or dust sticking to the inside of the glass. I used a "rocket" blower but it did take a while.

The difference was immediately noticeable. That haze is bad news for your scans!

Yes that's the first part of it. :D But there are screws under those plugs that's good news. I was expecting it to be some plastic barbed thing that I know I'd break.

And dust inside is the second. I have nothing that comes close to a 'clean room'.

I do have isopropyl wipes to 'scour' the haze.

Thanks! If I discover some trick to the caps I'll post it here.

iirc those plastic pieces sit in the holes pretty loosely, so you can lift them out with a piece of tape.

A piece of adhesive tape helps removing the plugs and cleaning the glass with isopropanol worked best for me. The haze is quite resistant so you need some time for this.

What I would like to know is how to clean the upper glass window (inner side) ...

I remember putting mine back together very proudly and noticing I'd left a smudge on the glass I hadn't noticed ... and pulled it apart again! :p
