i have one. really loved using it until one day when i went to turn it off, the power button wouldn't work, the lens remained extended and wouldn't close and it made a clicking noise.

curious if anyone is familiar with these cameras and have heard of/experienced this issue.

i'd rather not junk it but also don't know what else to do.

thanks!

First try replacing the battery.
Then if that doesn't work, your lens cover (the shutter in front) is probably stuck. Usually, the camera defaults to retracting the lens when this happens and goes into a mode where it will not turn on until the battery is removed then replaced.
If the shutter is closed, then your arm or the little cam and gear that operates the lens retraction have a single grain of sand or cat hair or lint or whatever in there and your camera has shut itself off in order to save itself. Since the lens is still in the out position, you can take off the front shutter cover, take off the front, top and back of the camera, and give it a good cleaning. While you're at it, clean the bottom of the rubber buttons with some isopropyl alcohol, and clean the gold contacts underneath them on the flexible board with some alcohol or even better, contact cleaner.
Good luck.
Haven't we already talked about your AF600 months or even a year ago?
