Anyone get their hands on the new 35mm Summicron?

I'm a bit torn on this. I also own the 35 Summarit (2.4) and to be honest, I see no difference other than at 2.0 - and the difference I see is more favouring the Summarit (sharp!).

I made a short comparison wide open, ƒ2.8 and ƒ8 which you'll find on my alternate flicker (tests and junk) site.

I've the special edition The build quality is another world, as expected.

It looks really good though.

I could be wrong, but I think that's the old ASPH, not the brand new one (per the first picture).

Oh, I hadn't realized that there was already a 2016 v VI. Mine was produced in 2015 (ASPH ver. V).

Is it true what Google says that it's just a mechanical update and the optics are the same?

Yes, there have been changes to the lens, but I haven't found any sample images or comparison yet. That said, I did find your test quite interesting between the first ASPH and the Summarit (the latter of which is definitely an under-loved lens).

Thanks. Interesting test indeed but that is the old asph. A friend of mine posted a very unscientific test on his youtube channel. The only difference obvious to him was the slightly smoother bokeh which I am guessing is due to the extra aperture blades.
