Anyone have a Nikon F6 in the 585 Area Code?

Around Rochester, New York, USA. Before jumping on one via the web it sure would be nice to handle one for a few minutes if there is anyone out there?

While I'm at it, any caveats about used F6s? Does the rubber get sticky with age like some other Nikons?

I'll trade an 8x10 print of your choice from anything on my websites for a quick simple meet up over coffee sometime. Thanks

My F5 was horrible in that regard, sticky grip and peeling off. I've always wanted to have it regripped, but in the end I sort of like the destroyed & weathered look from having a camera held together by gaffers tape.

I've had good luck cleaning up one F100 rubber door; one was too far gone to clean up; but I've also bought one that was nice and dry.

Windex, rubbing alcohol, Scotchbrite rubbed on the stickiness, then dab a little mineral oil to lessen the stickiness.

The rubber on my F5 isn't sticky but is loose underneath the hand grip area right under the front dial and can be pulled up in the front below the lens mount...is there a similar problem with the F6...???

My F5 is doing great. Now, my D700 is starting to peel though...

Yeah, I had to send in my D700 to get it regripped. Must be some chemical in my palm sweat that causes the adhesive to come loose....although it's been over a year now and the new grip hasn't come loose.

The F6 is superb Frank, you're going to love it. It's probably the last camera I'd sell (and that's saying something). Ergonomics are superb, the response lightning fast and quiet with auto-focus as fast as there has ever been on the film side. It also is the only Nikon camera compatible with the Nikon CLS so you can use iTTL flashes if you like... the SU-800 commander even works like a charm on it.

My grip hasn't become sticky at all. I've found the only ones that have are the Nikon cameras I've rarely used and kept in a case for too long. Your mileage may vary 🙂

Enjiy it if you get one, it's one cool picture taking machine.

I don’t live in the 585 area code and nowhere in its vicinity.
Owned and used this camera since early 2005 when was first launched in Europe. IMO F6 is the best 35mm SLR ever produced, flawless and incredibly reliable.
