I'm curious to know if anyone out there has one of the new Apple Quad processor G5 computers. The batch processing of hundreds of ERF files takes forever on my iMac G4, and I'm dreaming of something with a bit more power. I'd love to know if anyone has any first hand experience with the new box & Epson Photolier.

I'm guessing that the app is not multi-processor aware, which is okay, as I'm usually running other apps at the same time which could make use of the spare processors. Are folks with DualG5's able to run other app's at full speed while converting ERF files?

Hi

I have a quad-G5 - an unfortunately it has no impact on Eposn PhotoRAW performance - doesn't seem to multi-thread/multi-process.

A pity, because Epson PhotoRAW is still my RAW tool of choice - I have Aperture for my 1DMk2, but as I shoot mainly with the R-D1 until it has Epson RAW support its of little use.

I chose the Dual 2.7 over the Quad G5 because single thread performance is simply better, and most of my software is single threaded.

Got a good graphics card, though- and the 2.7 supports my 64 bit PCI SCSI adapter.

And :)blush:) plays WWIIOnline faster than the quad would have...
