SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB Secure Digital Extended Capacity (SDXC) Flash Card Model SDSDXPA-064G-A75 not working in an M9. ME saying card not inserted.

I popped this new card into a Nikon which throws the message that the card is not formatted.

What's the delio? Don't these cards work straight out of the box?

I'm formatting the card on my laptop Win7 now.

Any insights?

They should work straight out of the box though they should be formatted in camera before shooting. I've had great luck with Sandisk, this problem would be very frustrating.

The camera couldn't even recognize the card. I would have expected to be able to format the card in camera if needed.

Something isn't working correctly. The card is still formatting on the laptop, so lets see what happens. ugh!!!!!

Joe,

I own a Monochrom, and 32GB is the biggest card that is recommended. Also from other threads I glean that it generally is always best to format in camera.

I'm totally new to digital so know where I'm coming from. I use 16GB Lexar Platinum II's with the thinking that if a card dies I will limit my losses by using smaller cards.

What PKR said - they are the most counterfeited brand, according to their own report about three years ago (which I naturally can't find a link to now, drat). Somewhere on their website is a page which might help you visually check the card, and there is also a Sandisk rescue utility program which will electronically confirm what the thing actually is.

The format never worked. I was getting a message on my nikon: Card damaged or defective. I purchased from Newegg and their customer service is great. I have a shipping lable being mailed to me and I'm getting a refund. Now the questions begs what card will be compatible with the ME? From the little research I've done, there seems to be known issues with Leica and Sandisk.

Any recommendations? I want a fast card minimum 32GB.

Sandisk forged cards... I had no idea. Not cool.

Is the M9 able to use SDXC?

I believe it was made before SDXC was on the market, you may have to use an SDHC instead...

The M9 will not accept SDXC. It was designed before the cards existed. Simply use SD or SDHC. It is hard to believe that anyone should feel the need for such huge cards. A complete waste of money, even if they could be used, imo.
Probably your Nikon cannot accept them either.

I'm going to get a 32GB SDHC I think, as this will be dedicated to still photography I've decided.
