I sent a camera to Don Goldberg and it reached him more than 2 weeks ago (according to an email Fedex sent me). Since then, I think I have sent him more than 10 emails to confirm the status of my camera but I have not received a reply from him. I got the seller to give DAG a call and he said that no one picked up the phone. Now I am getting a little worried, so I am wondering, has anyone here spoken/been in contact with DAG recently?

Don is a busy, busy man. I prefer to contact DAG by phone call rather than e-mail.

Ride, dive, shoot.
I talked with him a couple weeks back. He's known for not-so-good to non-existant communication after he gets the gear. When it's done, it's done, but till then, he goes pretty much silent. This is my experience with M2 repair before, and MP modification now. Yes, it's annoying, but he is still the best and there are things I can only ask him to do.
My method of having his service: Give him specific deadline (not that it can be done by then), email and call, and most importantly, have another camera that I can shoot in the meantime.

I actually just talked to him today. I sent him a lens about 2 months ago and called him to check on the status. After reading many different posts, I figured he would be done whenever he's done. Apparently, he told me he had the lens, but didn't know why it wasn't done yet. He somehow overlooked it. So...he said he'll get back to me as soon as he can once he's done...maybe another 2 months?

Thanks guys for the replies. This is not the first time I sent him a camera, and the previous time he replied me quite promptly, that's why I am worried this time. Now that I know this is the usual, my mind is more or less at ease.
Sug: Thanks for the tips! I don't have a spare body now and I am going on a trip soon, I hope I'll get my camera in time for it :/

Don is a good guy.
I would suggest to talk to him about important "deadlines".
I believe he will accommodate you if he can.

Just got my M4-P back form him with no issues. We did call him about once a week to check on status. Great guy!

How come.....every six weeks or so - some one has to start a 'what's happened to Dag' thread? :bang: I suppose it will be Sherries turn next week!

Well he could do a lot better with communication for someone who is taking money for a service. Not great business practise no matter how skilled he is.

Call him in the late morning. That's when I've had the best luck at getting him to answer.

Good question, but to cut the OP a bit of slack, a new(ish) member might not know that this is asked about once a month. The fact that the RFF search engine is broken doesn't help either...How come.....every six weeks or so - some one has to start a 'what's happened to Dag' thread? :bang:

Such things happens when there is no competition in the business. For most the job, you probably could find similar alternatives but for certain jobs, Don is the only guy in business that charges reasonable amount for top notch results.

"Flim? You want flim?"
Well, I had the same issues with Mark Hama - these guys are great for fixing our old gear, and while I'd sure like a more profession business-like attitude from them, I'm just glad they're here at all. Youxin Ye, on the other hand, is in a category all his own - very fast and communicative.

I think this is the key. If you have regular CLA work on either a camera or lens, there are plenty of very competent technicians. I send to Steve Choi in LA and have been very pleased, but OTOH if I had an old body and needed a special mod it would go to DAG and I would wait for months. The problem is that everyone has DAG at the top of their list for everything and that's just not necessary.Such things happens when there is no competition in the business. Sorry I didn't know people ask this same question every month. I did use the search function but I just couldn't seem to find what I was looking for.
A part of me feels the same way as JayGannon and Helen, it would be nice if DAG or any other repair specialist for that matter could set a little amount of time aside to be a little more communicative.
SonC: Thanks for the advice! I have always wanted to give him a call, but it is hard for me as 1) I am currently a college student and my day is rather packed and 2) our time zones differ greatly, it is hard to find a time which is suitable and convenient for both DAG and I.
Thank you Johan for the links and Peter for the advice. Maybe the next time I will try sending my camera to Sherry instead.

... and my day is rather packed ...
If you think you have a tough day, try putting yourself in the position of someone running a one-man business. It's the same or worse; I guarantee.

Oh... if you want responsiveness, take ~Peter's advise and contact Steve Choi. He has several people on staff and will respond to your email within an hour or so. He, too, is legendary and does legendary work!
