Hi,
I've sent my DR Cron for a DAG CLA and a IIIf RD for film plane/lens flange check up. It's been 3 weeks now since Don received them. I'm not especially worried because I know he's usually backlogged, but I sent him two emails 13 days ago and 4 days ago to check on the progress and got no response. I'm not in the US otherwise I'd give him a call.
Has anybody talked to him recently perhaps?
Thanks.

Yep, recently received some parts I ordered (like 3 days ago). Had an email response a few days before that.
He takes his time, is often very busy. He'll get back to you when he can.

Calling is best, but I understand your situation.
He finished some work for me last week. Took about two months because he was waiting for parts. Once he had parts it was done quickly. He is very busy he said.

People like him and Sherry Krauter are very busy and hard to get ahold of.
Sent an e-mail to Sherry, cause there's a rumor going round that she won't work on Leica iiigs anymore, which I don't think is true. Thought she'd get back to me on that--I mean, you wouldn't want to lose business because of a false rumor, would you?
But to date, I've heard nothing back. But given my experience with her, it's because she's really busy (she does great work, though...like she did on my iiig

I sent him a rigid cron that he had worked on previously that was starting to work loose, in mid December. I figure I will hear from him when I hear from him. If I bugged him with a bunch of e-mails and calls that would only keep him from working. When I sent the lens to him I knew it would be a long time. The average I hear is something like six months.
I know if he is backlogged busy working on gear he is not going to call me up and say, "Hey your lens has arrived safely." It's not completely comforting, but it is what it is.

DAG is notorious for three things; slow, bad communication, but excellent work. He's very busy and that is the reason for the first two. There are plenty of people who do good work on Leicas and old cameras. DAG and Sherry just get the most publicity. I use the folks in New Jersey now.

Yep, I've heard good things about the NJ folks as well. I choose DAG because he has the needed gear for the film plane/lens flange check up and the lens collimator. Youxin just doesn't do that kind of work. Probably I could sent it to Sherry, but Don seemed to respond to email faster than Sherry at that time.DAG is notorious for three things; slow, bad communication, but excellent work. Anyway, I'm not particularly worried about the repair terms, moreover I feel now that snapping the Nikkor-H.C. 50/2 LTM off the classifieds was justified (ah, my 4th 50mm lens

To follow-up on this, I got a notice he'd fixed my camera & lens. Well, 5 months is not too bad. Even though Don didn't reply to some my emails, I was usually able to get ahold of him on the phone and have a pleasant chat.
