I guess I'm curious. See, I purchased a used King 600 student trumpet for my oldest son - his younger brother plays trombone in the school band so I offered to buy the oldest boy an instrument to keep things even. He wanted to try trumpet and so there it sat and sat some more . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . so me, being the inquisitive dad gave the old King a try and low and behold, I just might have a new hobby. It's a blast!

I used to Middle School... never was very good... and a student horn will never have the rich sound of a better made horn.
Lots of practice (with a mute, to have mercy of those in the house) is needed.... at least an hour a day...scales, fingering exercises, simple songs,
Good Luck... Oh, buy some "shades" and a "small brimmed hat" to help you get the mood...

Anyway, I'm a Chet Baker fan. I wonder if he could made a King 600 with a 7C mouth piece sound good . . . . . . . . . . I'm gonna have to say "yeah" to my own question.

I had one of those, as I played in Jr. High.
I leant it to the daughter of an ex girlfriend, who probably still has it. Maybe I should buy another one though.
