Yeah...topic subject line pretty much sums it up. Anyone use efke and if so how do you like it and soup it?
 
EFKE 25 rated @ speed souped in Rodinal. I love this film but exposure can be tricky. It can build up contrast when shot in bright sun. It scans very well normally not needing much post processing. High silver content, old school film!
 
I really like Efke 25. I usually shoot it at box speed and develop it in Rodinal, Xtol or both. Produces a beautiful tonal range with a very fine but pleasing grain.
 
I've used Efke 25, 50 and 100 in D-76. Recently also used Adox CHS 100 which is basically same as Efke 100. This film can be very contrasty, has an old world look to it.
 
2 days ago I was in Belgrade and bought 4 rolls of Efke : KB 400 + KB 100 +
2 x KB 25 ... it's '' dry gold ''( our term ) for me - KB 400 is repacked HP5+!!!
and KB25 will be fine for children photos :)

P.S. They have their paper, developers ... it's cheaper than other stuff and can make you fell like you are in 70-ies again.

i use kb50 for almost all my photos. i use some universal cheap developer - but get very good results. it is very good film for scanning. you can check my gallery for results.

many people from other forums contacted fotokemika about kb400 and they claim that they dont repackage hp5 anymore. they told them that they manufacture their own 400 film. i believe that it is their film because they manufactured 400 asa in 70s. i think they repackaged film in 90s because they were in war and poor. i used kb400 and it was very interesting. i love grain and it is shown on it. but i think it because of my cheap developer.
anyway i highly recomend all efke films.
 
I'm a big fan of Efke 25 souped in Rodinal 1 + 100. As bigdog suggests, it ca be a bit challenging in sunny conditions because of contrast, but the stuff really shines on cloudy days. Several shots in my gallery were taken with Efke 25.

I got 10 rolls of efke 25 in 120-format. Really looking forward to use it. Also waiting for my rolleiflex to come back home...:)
Now you guys push me to try it in the super ikonta!

I agree, great film and have used it when available since the 60's but it bright sun is a problem. Love the results on overcast days.
 
I used KB100. Souped in rodinal I found it very grainy. Souped in caffenol I found it very nice.
 
I have had very limited experience with Efke 25 in 120 format. It's really a beautiful film but the deal-killer for me was the number of negatives marred by trash and defects in the film. I processed it in the same tank with Ilford Pan F+ using D76 1:1 (a safe option for trying a new film) and the Pan F had none of the trash and clear areas on the negatives found in the Efke. It took a lot of spotting of the prints but the results were beautiful despite the defects.
 
I use the efke 25, and run it in ID-11 1:1, get great results, and yes the contrast does get high in full sun. I've been agitating less and getting better results- still tweaking. Not Agfapan 25, but maybe the next best thing.
 
Thanks a lot, Waileong! I'll see to try some. In the meanwhile, I'm awaiting delivery of some Agfa APX 400.

Lloyd, that's a nice portrait and really good scan.
