Hey Folks!

It's been a while. I was just curious if anyone knew anything about a Schneider 8cm f2 Xenon lens for LTM. It's strange because I'm pretty sure it's LTM threading, but it doesn't have a cam for the rangefinder. I need to drop it off to my repairman to clean out a boatload of haze in it, currently it can't be used for photography. Chrome and black plated brass. The only thing I could find in an old Popular Photography magazine from the 1930's was a Schneider barrel lens of the same description. I'll post photos of it soon.

Thanks,
Eric

photos coming soon. Just got it back from my repairman, he did a phenomenal job cleaning 80 years of crud out of the lens. It's remarkably clear and very sharp given its age. I think it's meant for using with a visoflex system. At infinity it focuses about 15 feet away. Does that make sense? It's definitely L39 for the mount.

From what I can gather it's from 1942. Lens almost looks like it's uncoated to me.

Well I went ahead and tested this lens out further today. I guessed the focusing distance, chimped as needed and used a Nikon zoom finder set to 135 for framing since the internal frame wouldn't move off infinity.

I have to say for such an old lens it's a nice little performer. Here are some shots:

Wide Open was hard to guess distance with the M8's little lcd

Stopping down helped out though

Right now the lens isn't focusing to infinity. It's going to go back to my tech. He thinks (now that we know for certain that it will mount on a leica) that he should be able to set the infinity stop on the lens correctly.

Not bad for a 1942 lens huh?

Very nice images... you could certainly use it on a Viso... not sure what that would do to the focusing distance...

Looks kind of big to have been part of a Paxette outfit...
