I have an old Pancake I that I want to start shooting with again. The lens is a great performer... the problem is I don't have a hood for it.
Does anyone know where I can pick up one of those nice new heavy duty slotted lenshoods for it? I know the filter size is NOT 39mm. It looks like 40.5mm or something in that general category.
I've seen discussions about sellers on eBAY who deal in this kind of stuff.
While we're on the subject of lens hoods... does anyone know of anything in 40mm for the Canon screwmount lenses?

Search ebay for "vented hood 43mm"
AFAIK seller "heavystar" sells them. They cost $10 - $15 only.
Didier
Update: seller "americaneagle_camera" has them for $7.95, see http://tinyurl.com/y2c5t3, or for $9.95 with cap, see http://tinyurl.com/y5mjmf

As much as I appreciate RW's quality service and usually competitive prices, they sell exactly the same, far east made third party vented hoods as the two above mentioned ebay sellers.

RW is selling the origional 43mm CV hood for 12.0 GBP, probably not vented.

ah, sorry, I was wrong - because I had seen those third party hoods at the RW website, too. Yes this one is not vented:

The Pancake 1 is so small, that a vented hood is not needed. The original works great.

I never did understand the reasoning behind a vented hood for this lens, or why CQ would infer that one was needed. IIRC, there is very little to no vf intrusion from my Skopar Classic and this lens is smaller. What am I missing here?

I had a Pancake I several years ago. The only time it needs a hood is when using filters. The original "hood" is useless and grossly overpriced. This picture was taken with the "Pancake" on an M2-I wanted flare so pointed the lens right at the sun-it didn't give me flare!:
