Anyone notice that Flickr is working poorly?

Over the past few days (beginning of December 2018) I have found Flickr to be abysmal. Many instances of the dumb "Bad Panda" error response or "We are having trouble displaying this page at the moment" error response (i.e. both indicative that its server is not responding properly to requests). Other problems include: Problems and delays getting stats from Flickr on the stats graph page (Pro Users); Authentication issues; Some HTML links not working normally off some pages; Uploading of new images to Flickr slow and buggy; Pages sometimes downloading very slowly or only partly.

This has been going on for 3 days now and while it is intermittent if anything it seems to be getting worse and more frequent. Normally I have found it to be pretty good in its reliability and response time and any faults (always inevitable in the internet) are few, of a short duration but recently..........

Is anyone else experiencing this too? They may have picked a bad time to double their pro subscription fees if this kind of stuff is happening..........................

One think I have noticed in Flickr longer term is that it seems to me that many of the B/W photographs I look at (as I check out film/developer combo examples) seem to be overly dark grey, as if most photographers are shooting on a dull low-contrast day. Even in pictures where shadows/sunlight patterns show it was a sunny day, the images seem oddly skewed to the lower values. Maybe it's my computer, maybe its my sensibilities, maybe that's the "look" lots of photographers like, or maybe its a Flickr aesthetic -- but I don't like it much.

I routinely bump the exposure of my pics about 10% in the Flickr editor when posting. Everything in Flickr looks darker to me compared to my local images.

I tried to check my images just now and am still getting the "Bad Panda" message.

This morning when I got out of bed and checked my PC I looked at Flickr and found no views at all for yesterday in their statistics page graph for my photostream.

This is despite the fact that I was working on some images last night which I posted and when doing so I made mental note before going to bed that I had about 2500 total views at that time for that day. Australia is presently in daylight saving when my state's time zone is +10.30 hours ahead of GMT so I am still in the same "Flickr day" when I awoke this morning. A new image I posted just before retiring last night now has 500 hits plus 20 or so faves on it but somehow these and other views on other images from yesterday are not being "counted" in their global statistics. (However that is done which admittedly is something of a mystery)

This is problem with Flickr NOT an internet thing. Their servers or databases are corrupted. No doubt all a part of their "Ongoing improvements & updates to Free & Pro plans" as their official thread on their help page calls it. Sounds like Flickr may be using its member base as beta testers without asking or telling us.

I have posted on their site - it has a user forum but I have no idea if it is monitored by Flickr staff and acted on or if it just a means of letting users let off steam to divert them up by giving them a chance to do so. Many many people complaining similarly in Europe, USA and elsewhere so it is a real (if quirky and or intermittent) problem.

As I say I suspect it has to do with the "upgrades" they recently announced and I suspect also that they are using their user base effectively to test their new software for them.......................not an unknown strategy in the internet world.

It would be nice if they had an official thread announcing the above and inviting feedback.

This nonsense has been going on for a while really. It’s Flickr. Yesterday the entire Flickr website/apps were completely down at one point. Last month the feed was down pretty much globally for an entire day, for example, so none of your friends saw your new images. I’ve been noticing more outages of that type lately too, though not lasting as long.

Yes, I have noticed much more problems than usual in the last week or so. Hopefully, it's because they're working on changes/improvements, but that may be wishful thinking on my part.
