My first post at the rangefinder forums.

I got my Bessa R3a inkl Nokton 40mm f/1.4 yesterday afternoon. I like it very much so far (only one testroll exposed and developed, fokusing seems spot on)

I have noticed a tendensy of the plastic plug protecting the external flash sync contact on the left side of the camera to come loose. I've found it missing three times so far but forunetaly found it every time.

I spoke to another Bessa R3a user and he never noted that he had one (probably it came off before he noted that there was oen).

Anyone else noted this problem?

Any suggestions how to make it stay? I'd love to keep my camera complete and in good shape and don't like the idea of a lust plug.

Best regards,
Richard, Uppsala, Sweden

Welcome to the rangefinder forums, Richard. My plug (left side) is still on. I didn't know that was for the flash. Perhaps ask Cameraquest for some spare ones? 😀

Watch out for the viewfinder round bit at the back unscrewing and falling off. It happened to mine after about a week.

'A lust plug' is the best typo I've seen today.

Have fun with the camera, use it every day if you can. And even if you can't.

See you around.

I keep the plug with the original box the camera came with - I doubt that not leaving it on will really affect the camera in anyway? -- I've never had any problems with any other camera that I have owned in not keeping a plug on the PC Terminal.

It's true what Jon says - the viewfinder back lens does have a tendency to unscrew - just make sure it is tight every now and then.

Welcome Richard,

I'm new here as well . I too have the R3A/40 1.4 combo. I lost the rear viewfinder cap after about a weeks use. Most likely from cramming my glasses against it to try and see the frame lines (I should have listened the the numerous posts that advised against the R3A w/ glasses). I do still have my flash sync plug, but I like Chris's suggestion "I keep the plug with the original box the camera came with"

Good luck,
Dan

Thanks guys,
For the moment I keep the plugg off in a safe place. I noted the eyepiece was loose too but I take your advice and check that its tight every once in a while.

The bessa is so far a very nice complement to my Cambo Master PC 4x5" (not a rangefinder, but a little too bulky for street photography ;-))

Best
/Richard

I did not loose the plug but got my camera back without it after a repair 🙁 The round eyepiece screwed off one time but luckily I could find it back in my bag and now I check it everytime before I go out.

Cheers

All right! Mine fell off some time today and so now it's gone forever! 😱

On a recent trip I became very aware how easy both the little flash pc connector plug and the v/f rubber ring can "go away". Interesting, I found the pc cap in my camera bag but ended up ordering a new v/f ring from Mr. Gandy. Actually got a spare too.

Welcome to the forum.
