Anyone still shoot with their SLR's?

Tony, you should keep the K bayonet stuff. That Centon K100 is a fine machine, fantastic viewfinder compared to the current DSLRs. Loads of decent glass available for it also. I Still have and use my old MX and ME Super, still get the odd new bits for em that I could not afford back in the early 80s.

I tend to shoot rectangular things sometimes, wanting them to be rectangular in the print. Weird, huh? So I use an F1 with a grid screen, especially with 24mm. My CV 25 is no good for this purpose, but it's fun in nature, where 90deg is an unusual angle.

I use a Minolta SRT-102 with a MD 70-210 zoom, sometines a 2x adapter, mostly for the kid's athletics, or if I need to "reach out". Occaisionaly use a MC 135 - takes super portraits. The rest of the kit languishes on the shelf.

I bought the 102 to replace my late, beloved XD-5, which was unrepairable (and I didn't want to have another XD die soon). When the XD-5 died, I picked up my dad's IIIf for a trip, and never put it down. The 102 just doesn't get much use these days.

Fred I agree and there's no way I'm going to be parted from my Pentax glass. The Centon I loved the first time I picked it up and considering I gave up a Pentax LX to foolishly go over to Nikon shows what a nice beastie it is 😉 Coincidentally I have to go over to a friends tomorrow to see if I can help her fix her ME Super 🙂

My beloved Minolta XG-9 still thrills me. It's a nice travel camera -- when paired with the MD 50/1.7 it's only slightly larger than my Bessa R.

Lots of great, great deals on quality SLR gear on that big auction site.

I don't own a 35mm SLR apart from my first camera an AE-1 prog that's been gathering dust for years. The camera I use for the occasional portrait commission is Pentax 6x7 with 165mm plus an extension tube (for some reason MF portrait lenses don't focus near enough for headshots 😕 ). Technically an SLR but not really in the spirit of a 35mm one, a true great one off camera.

I tend to go back and forth between RF's & SLR's...... in both 35mm and Medium Format.

In SLR's, I have a couple of Olympus OM's, a few Exaktas and a pile of M42 cameras of all makes.

As someone has pointed out, it's difficult to mount a really long lens on a RF.

I rarely use my Olympus OM-2 any more. But its Zuiko lenses are often found mounted on my Olympus E-1 DSLR. The 50/1.4 gives me a very nice effective 100mm f/2 (f/1.4 doesn't give much more light due to sensor angle issues). And the 100/2.8 makes a *very* nice effective 200mm. And the 50/3.5 macro is just plain superb.

Film is still "it" for important stuff, but the DSLR has expanded my horizons. I can experiment without additional cost. And sometimes the convenience just can't be beat. Still, every time I shoot a Leica after time with the E-1, it's like coming home. I'm just an RF kinda guy, I guess.

I use my Nikon D1-H SLR for work as a photojournalist. I keep my Bessa R on me at all times though for those shots i wont put in a newspaper.

Two different beasts and two different styles of photography.

Probably like many others, it was an SLR that originally represented my initiation into what I like to call 'conscious photography'; i.e., photography that makes you consider yourself a photographer. However, since I always used it more as a rangefinder than as an SLR, taking quick grab shots with a scale-focused 50mm and 20mm, often from the hip, after discovering rangefinders I never found the need to use an SLR again. The Kiev 60 stayed around for the medium format stuff, but even that has now been replaced by a TLR. I never lust for anything longer than the 'normal' focal length of any medium. Even portraits look more compelling to me when shot close up.

I have a very nice Canon FD kit, including a New F-1 and a T-90. I love using it, particularly with longer lenses. I like my CV glass better for lenses wider than 50, however, and am using rangefinders about 90% of the time now.

I also shoot with the F2AS and 55mm F1.2 AI lens. I have an F3AF with the HP finder on it, but it just does not get the use that the F2AS and Nikon Ftn get.

The Nikon E3 has been getting used for taking pictures of camera equipment. Full frame digital and works with the standard SB29 in TTL mode.

Yeah. I shoot with my Canon AE-1 with its 50mm 1.9 or is it 1.7? Nice camera though. Tough as nails and the canon lens has a nice softness to it.

Yep, I shoot with my Sigma SA-7n outfit (28-80 and 70-300 zooms, 50 f/2.8 prime) a bit, and my Pentax outfit (two K1000 bodies, an MG body, 28/50/135 primes and 28-70 lenses). I also have an Olympus IS-5 for when I don't feel like dragging along a larger bag and think I might need a wide range of lengths.

I love that MG. Small, light, fast shooter. With the 28mm on it, it's almost as good as a rangefinder.
