Anyone still shoot with their SLR's?

Hey, New to the forum. But I can answer this question.

Yes. In fact I just E-bayed a nice Canon A-1 in fantastic condition. All the foam is in its place and there is NO shutter Squeak. I have the usual 50mm 1:1.4, a 100mm 1:2.8 and an 80mm-200mm 1:4 Zoom Lens.

I had used my fathers AE-1 Program several years ago when I borrowed it for a Grand Canyon trip and loved using it. I have a poster, from an image I took, of a raft going through Lava Falls hanging over my sofa.

And since the advent of Digital cameras I have ALWAYS been dis-satisfied with my pictures, since the cameras I have been using are my wifes Point and Shoots and Kodak Easy Share DX7630.

I must admit, with some embarassment, I have never used a Rangefinder. (let the flaming begin...lol) but have become quite interested in the format.

True happiness is a Nikon F3 with the HP finder.

I agree.

I also like my Bronicas (ETR and ETRS). Olympus OM2 and Pentax Spotmatic. I have a Vivitar Series 1 135mm f2.3 in M-42 mount that I like for people portraits on the Spotmatic.

Absolutely,
I have a Nikon F3 and 50/1.8 that went around Europe with me this summer. I occasionally use a Canon 10D (with a couple of L lenses) but I really should sell it to pay for my GAS problem - new Zeiss 50 Planar ZM from CameraQuest - should arrive this Saturday. If it is anything like the 45mm Planar I once owned for a G1 I will be a very happy camper. This is my first new lens purchase in a long time - my palms are sweating and I'll have trouble sleeping for days - I haven't told the girlfriend yet. Eventually when I am dragged away from my traditional darkroom I'll have a gallery on RFF.!

Talking about SLR shots... I just developed a film shot at last weekend in Basle, Switzerland. The statue is taken with CZJ 2/58 Biotar and the head with CZJ 2.4/35 Flektogon MC. Both on Minolta XD-7 with M42 adapter.

Edmund. Welcome to the forum. Also, toss the Kodak DX7630 and get the DX6490. Takes amazing pictures (4.1MP) and has the Schneider/Kreuznach lens (10X OPTICAL zoom!). Still available new and at half the price of the 2003 introductory price.

Wayne: That Vivitar series 1 is a good one. Used to own it. Now bolted to my aging black Spotmatic body is the Super Takumar 135/2.5 - also a very good one. Unfortunately they're getting ridiculously pricey. One went this week on ebay for $250.

I use a Canon A1 with50/ F1.4 FD and the 85/ F1.8 FD. I also use the 30-35/3.5 FDL. I like the feel and construction of this kit; it's solid, tough and takes very fine pics. My Leica gear is an M4-P and, as back up, M6, but I limit myself to the Summilux-M 1:1.4/50 and the Summicron-M 1:2/35 asph. It's usually B&W with the M4-P and color with the M6. I also have a cute, blackGIII QL17 I bought reconditioned from Stephen Gandy and that terrific old tank the Yashica GSN.
