I just ordered a SLING from Leicagoodies.com. I've been intrigued about it since I saw Rich815 using it on his MP back in December. Does anyone use it regularly? Has it replaced a strap, or is it used only occasionally?

BTW- this is pretty typical for me - buy it first, then ask questions :D

I have a homemade one on my Canonet. I like it a lot. The webbing I found is just a bit wider than I'd prefer though and the Leicagoodies one looks as though it is just about right. I hope you like the one you ordered.

I really like them. I got one for each M body I own a couple years ago, and they have been on there ever since. I just really like them.

I like the sling together with a handstrap from Gordy on the other side. It's smooth enough that I don't mind to use it the whole day.

I use a homemade one in my bessaR but lately I turn it whith a wrist strap. I really like them both.

I've been using one for a couple of years exclusively, and I like it.

Of course you know I love it! Have one on my MP and my M3. Took a shot on a home-made versions and I use one each on my Contax G2 and Canonet. The home-made ones are just not as comfortable.

I use Lutz's SLINGS on both M4 and M6. I tried to fit one on my S3 2000 but once mounted i couldn't wind on the film so it had to come off. I also use his eyecups (i think they are called SCOOPs). These also fit on the Plaubel Makina 67 and 670 cameras.

Once you pass the painful (at least for my fingernails) installation phase, it is extremely convenient and comfortable. I use it on both Leicas in combination with the normal Leica neck strap connected via the "hook".

I tried it, but didn't take to it. Just doesn't fit w/my shooting style.

Communication & service from Lutz was great, BTW.

unbelievable. I go to this forum every day. I start thinking I know something about RF cameras. And then this. What in the world is a SLING? And why is it so good?

I think I want one. no... I need one. how much is it? :)

Well, as a few have commented, its definitely a subjective, personal thing. Some love it and some just do not take to it. I personally love it as to me nothing screams out photogrpher or tourist more than a camera dangling from your neck---(so out there and visible!) especially for street photography. So being able to hold my camera by two fingers dangling at my side, discretely, can make all the difference in getting in close and nailing an interesting candid shot, unseen usually, is priceless. And the Sling really helps I think.
