I was just wondering how many of you use a T mount lens on your M8 using a Visoflex. I do not use 400mm that much, so spending alot on that focal length makes no sense to me. I see alot on the internet about very affordable lenses that perform quite good (Spiratone 400mm Sharpshooter comes to mind). Sometimes I have the urge to shoot wildlife, and I thought a good cheaper lens would be fine.

T-mount lenses won't fit on the Visoflex. Some lenses with interchaneable mounts, like Astro Berlin, did make Visoflex II adapters, and a number of companies other than Leitz made lenses for the Visoflex I which is easy to adapt. It IS possible to adapt some of those inexpensive (back in the 1960's) 400mm f/6.3 lenses to get infinity focus on the Visoflex II and III, but there's a bit of work involved and I'm not sure that it'll work with all of them. I used a Sterling Howard Tele-Astranar. I'm not sure about your Spiratone.

If anybody wants to know how I'll be glad to explain how. You'll probably ding up the finish a bit and you'll need a Leica thread mount to M adapter. Scroll down to the October 24th post on my blog: http://thepriceofsilver.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html to see the lens on the V-II.
