Hi friends, I'm just wondering if any of you have had contact recently with Bob Watkins at Precision Camera Works. He's had my Mamiya 6 for five months. He acknowledged receiving it but since then I've not had a word and he has not responded to phone calls or emails.

This seems to be standard procedure for several camera repair places, but I would at least like to know that the guy is still alive.

Well there you go. After calling several times over the past few months and getting only a recording, I called again just now and got a real person instead of the answering machine. She told me that my camera was going out next week.

This reminds me of a joke:

A man returns to his home town after being away 20 years. While walking down the main street, lost in old memories, he sees that the old shoe repair shop is still there. He walks in and sees that the same old geezer is behind the counter.

"Hey," says the man, "I just remembered that I left you a pair of shoes for new heels right before I moved away. I know it's ridiculous, but is there *any* chance that you've still got those shoes somewhere?"

"Do you have the ticket?" says the geezer.

The man digs into the depths of his wallet and, amazingly, he finds the old ticket. "Here it is!" he cries.

The old geezer takes the ticket and wanders back into the depths of his ancient shop. The man hears boxes shoving, shelves collapsing and sees clouds of dust billowing out of the back room.

After a long time, the old repairman comes back to the front counter. He spits on the floor and then gives the ticket back. "They'll be ready Wednesday," he says.
