I'm expecting my Epson Stylus Pro 3880 to arrive any day now. Can anyone recommend some good paper to use for fine art prints? I'm getting very excited to use this printer from all the reviews and such on it.

Congratulations. I have the model before, the 3800, and find it to be very fine indeed.

For stuff that gets framed, I use Ilford Gold Fibre Silk. Before this paper, I was using Epson matte papers, but liked what I saw from the Ilford paper so I went with it.

FWIW, in prints that get passed around and may not get framed, I generally use Epson Premium Photo Luster which seems to meet people's tactile expectations of a photograph.

Very difficult to beat Hahnemuehle bamboo or photo rag

I've heard good things about the photo rag. Some say it gives amazing depth and the blacks are very dark. Isn't the rag a matte?

I use Museo Silver Rag with my Epson R2400 and have been very happy with the results. Now that the printer is starting to return "communication errors" and ceasing to print during the print jobs (after completing anywhere from 5% to 95% of the print) I am thinking of upgrading to the 3880 or the 4880.

As a three year owner of the HP B9180, I received my 3880 yesterday. My first print out of the machine, on the Premium Luster that was supplied with it for alignment purposes, was jaw-dropping good (B&W). I have Museo Silver Rag, Ilford Gold Fibre Silk, Harman Matt and Gloss FB and a few others that I will be trying also. Will keep you posted.

This is nice to hear. I read so much on how this printer does amazing bw prints. Worried it was all hype.

FedEx just delivered the printer. OMG! It's so big! I didn't realize how much space I would need. :bang:

I'm just blown away at how good some of my prints are looking on the supplied luster paper from epson. i can only imagine on better paper how nice it will look.

I just picked up some 13 x 19 Ilford Gold Fibre Silk paper at a local camera shops tent sale. Buy one pack of 10, get another pack free!

The saleslady asked me if I actually had a printer that prints that large. LOL.

Looking forward to trying this paper out.
