Anyone used Scribus for photo book layout?

Has anyone used the (free) Scribus software to do a book layout? Did you then send it to a printer to be printed? How did it turn out? Did you run into any issues with PDF output from Scribus?

For my next book of BW images I want better quality than Blurb provides. I need a capable book layout tool that can generate a PDF ready to be printed and I am too cheap to get Adobe InDesign.

i used it for my book, "Fallujah. A Photographer's Perspective." Printers that do the work in-house have no problem with the PDF but I uploaded it to Blurb and although it conforms exactly to the PDF spec that Blurb needs, it wouldn't publish or print the document. That was the end of 2011 so the compatibility issues with Blurb could have been taken care of.

At this point I am leaning toward Edition One Books, so any Blurb incompatibility is not a big deal.
